APW Bangsar's new alfresco Japanese-themed craft beer bar is another East Asian-inspired concept by the team behind the Kaiju Company Thai restaurant. The setting melds classic Japanese-produced arcade games (which customers can play) with decorative touches such as stickers & action figures of Godzilla, propelled by an upbeat soundtrack that swings from Osaka rapper Basi to Korean hip-hop star Keith Ape.
Japanese bottles stake a major claim to the beverage list of 'Mr Beer,' with the familiar Hitachino Nest pale ales & lagers sharing the spotlight with the Yo-Ho Brewing Company's Tokyo Black Porter & Indo no Aooni IPA. But you'll also find Australian, English & Scottish brews, as well as sake, gin & whisky. Nibbles can be ordered from Kaiju next door - or just have some simple but satisfyingly smooth Hoegaarden or Guinness ice cream (RM12).
